TRAVALONG
The neatest Travel Razor
The Travalong was launched in 1944 by the PAK Company of Cleveland, Ohio.
This was the ultimate travel razor: it was so small when disassembled as to be easily mistaken for a double-edge blade box and yet, after a quick and easy assembly, it became a full size, handy and well made safety razor.

The Travalong was beautifully made of stainless steel, although a de-luxe model was also offered that sported a gold colored finish.
It was light and compact and used standard double edge blades. Five blades could be stowed inside the razor during travel.

When in its stowed state, the razor is amazingly compact.

It is easy to assemble. First, slide the blade holder out of the case

Then, after inserting a standard blade, snap the handle to the blade holder.

The assembled razor is quite elegant and a great example of modern 20th Century design.

These razors were fairly successful and can be found on eBay or in antique shops for a very low price. Because of the high quality of the materials used and of its ingenious design, the Travalong is an interesting and intriguing collectible.

Of course, it can also still be used as a practical and handy travel razor.
