acronyms that have become commonplace on the world-wide web.
In addition to those acronyms that are commonplace in bulletin boards and emails, there are also some that are specific to the shaving community.
Many newcomers to our website may find it difficult to fully understand the various messages posted on our two boards, unless a clear explanation for the various abbreviations and acronyms is made available for them.
This page offers a list of the most widely used acronyms, with a special section dedicated to shaving-related terms. Some of the phrases contain profanities. We removed part of the offending words and we apologise for the rude language. We did not coin these phrases and we believe that this list would not be complete if we omitted them.

Shaving Related Acronyms
A/S or AS = aftershave
ASB = aftershave balm
BBS = Baby Bottom Smooth
KMF = Kiss My Face (a Trade Mark)
s/c = shaving cream
SBAD = shaving brush acquisition disorder
SOTD = shave of the day
SS = Super Speed (a vintage Gillette razor)
TTO = Twist To Open (a class of razors)
WTG: With The Grain, meaning shaving in the direction your beard grows, usually top to bottom.
XTG: Across The Grain, usually meaning shaving from your ear horizontally toward your nose, or vice versa.
ATG: Against The Grain, meaning shaving against the direction of beard growth, usually bottom to top.
Pass: Not an acronym, but a term referring to the process of lathering and then shaving. Each set of lather and subsequent shave is a pass.
