Leisureguy's Guide to
 Gourmet Shaving
Shaving Made Enjoyable

This is a new book, written by Michael Ham, a gifted Californian who is known in Internet circles by the nickname "Leisureguy". Michael is a shaving enthusiast who has helped countless people with his expert advice, which he freely gives by posting in numerous shaving discussion groups and also in his very active and popular blog.

Author Michael Ham, aka "Leisureguy"

This book is a great tool for novice shavers, but even seasoned ones will find in it a wealth of interesting and useful information.  It is a clear, well written handbook of over 100 pages, full of practical advice, useful addresses and website links.

The author's passion for the art of shaving shines through the pages of this fine book: the book is divided into thirteen chapters, covering specific subjects that go from "Why to do it" (wetshaving, that is!), to "What to expect" and it includes a complete step-by-step guide for new wetshaving adepts.

In addition, there are reviews of the most popular products used by wetshavers and the author offers a wealth of tips, techniques and little "secrets" that contribute to the joy of shaving.
The book's subtitle is "Shaving made enjoyable" and the emphasis is on the word enjoyable: follow Michael's advice and in a few sessions you will become addicted to the pleasures provided by a good, traditional shave.

This fine handbook will guide the new shavers in their selection of brushes, razors, blades, soaps and creams and even point out those little accessories that can make a difference in the enjoyment of our daily shaving routine. In the words of the Foreword of the book:

For most men, shaving is a daily yet unappealing task: a routine at best, a chore more often. And a surprising number of men believe that they have "sensitive skin", because the tug-and-cut action of the usual multiblade shaving cartridge and the pressure they exert on the razor trying to get a close shave, together with the inadequate beard preparation that a canned shaving mix offers, gives them razor burn, razor bumps and in-grown hair.
It's all completely avoidable: the daily shaving task can easily become a pleasurable ritual that leaves tha shaver feeling renewed and pampered and his skin glowing with health. All it takes are the right tools, the right preparation and a little practice.

And, I will add, this book is one of those tools that will help make your shave a pleasure. It is indispensable for all newcomers to the art of wetshaving. There was a need for a practical, no-nonsense, well written manual: Michael Ham has written it!

Highly recommended, it will pay back its owners by reducing their learning curve considerably, helping them avoid frequent pitfalls that may dampen their enthusiasm and weaken their resolve to shave with a brush and a blade. In addition, this Guide will prevent costly mistakes in the purchase of equipment that may not meet the new shaver's needs or expectations.

If you are considering getting into traditional wetshaving or if you are having problems getting that smooth, irritation-free shave that you know can be achieved with the right techniques and equipment, you need to read this book! On every page you'll be discovering useful information that can change for the better the way in which you approach your shaving routine... and the book is also fun to read.
